Today was my big day in these championships and this spring. Long distance final was run in Skattungbyn stony ground covered in lichen and some areas also fallen trees. The terrain was a little bit disappointment, but still there were many nice areas and I enjoyed it today.
The 13th position was something I could expect after the qualification, if I have a good day. And I did. Physically I had the very best day in this spring and I could also keep my thoughts together and had a good run, not the best, but good. It was only 1,5 minutes to 6th position and it could have been possible. I'm still pleased that I managed to do this kind of run today in the form I have at the moment.

Although the medal speed was impossible for me today, it's nice to see that I'm fighting for very good positions already. I had a good training winter, but not very much of orienteering, so the spring always comes early. I also had some health problems in very bad time for 2-3 weeks, which made it impossible to be in better shape at the moment. It was very nice to focus this competition and have the best day in this spring physically.
I've had a very good grip on orienteering during the whole spring and also today I had only some 1,5-2 minutes to improve and the biggest mistake was just over 30 seconds. Especially it was nice to see that my speed was good in the places, where it was possible to run fast, and I was quite good in longer legs. Not especially compared to top 5, but to everybody else. I had one bigger mistake in routechoices to 3rd control, where I should have used the paths on the right. Instead I took more normal route on the left and "swim" twice in wide ditches in very cold water. The weather was nice and sunny compared to the races this spring, but I still had to take that normal cold water wash during this race too...
The harmony I found today was surely consequense from my thoughts. Today I could watch the essential things from the map quite easily and that made the control taking faster. I also was well present in 80 % of the legs, but there were still some unessential thoughts in every fifth leg. The most important thing for me today to find my harmony was singing before the race. I love singing and to sing (alone in the forest ;)) is a very good opening of breathing. It also gives the right kind of vibration to my astral body. It means harmony between body and mind, which is surely needed in long distance orienteering to reach your best performance.
